11 Week Post Partum Update
I can’t believe that we’re almost out of the newborn phase and this is our 11 week post partum update!
I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand, that slightly terrifying newborn stage is coming to an end, Mini is sleeping better and his little personality is developing so much more each and every day. On the other hand, he’s my last baby (did I mention that I won’t ever ever ever be having another baby?) and so this is my last chance to cuddle a newborn of my very own.
Sometimes I feel that time is flying but writing these blog updates each week is helping it not to fly away too quickly. It gives me the opportunity to reflect on the past week and also to stop and think about where my family is all up to right now. You can find out more about why I started blogging here.
So here’s an update at 11 week’s post partum:
Mini is getting so lovely and round and cuter each day! He’s continuing to feed really well and it shows – he’s so perfectly chubby with knuckle and elbow dimples too :)
Sleep is pretty good – he’s sleeping from 7pm for 8-9 hours most nights, then feeding and another 2-3 hours. I’ve informed him that his sister was sleeping 12 hours by now so he needs to keep up :). I’ll be a happy mummy if he continues doing at least 8 though!
He is still having a bit of a problem with spitting up a lot after each feed though and has been put on reflux meds this week so hoping that improves soon. His sister had reflux too so we’re used to the symptoms and how to deal with them – such as keeping him upright after feeds, having him sleep with his head elevated, not putting pressure on his tummy etc.
The doctor was really happy with him otherwise though although has temporarily advised that I do not take the Nourkrin tablets for my post-pregnancy hair loss (affiliate link) until after I stop breastfeeding as they might be upsetting his tummy a bit. Mini comes first so I’ve already stopped them.
My hair is still coming out a lot each time I brush it and I know it’s normal – I wish it wouldn’t though and I do miss my lovely thick pregnancy hair! I’ll try and increase my natural iron consumption instead – lots of iron rich foods – any excuse for a steak.
I’ve been having a good weight loss week so far and looking forward to my weigh in next Tuesday. I’ve been walking a lot again, it’s just the easiest way to get Mini to nap in the day time and good for me to get moving as much as possible. I have found that my knees are aching a bit, probably from carrying him a lot. I need to do squats or something. I hate squats. I won’t be doing any squats.
After the fun of last weekend, we’ve had a quiet week. I’ve been going through Miss M’s old clothes and sorting them for giving to friends or charity. It’s so sad! As thrilled I am to have a beautiful little boy, I really did expect another girl and I always thought that the lovely dresses and pretty clothes I’m giving away would be worn by another of my babies. Ah, oh well – I look at Mini and soon forget about it!
