12 Week Post Partum Update

12 Week Post Partum Update

Well we’re nearly at the 3 month mark! It does seem like only yesterday that we were leaving the hospital and all of a sudden I’m writing my 12 week post partum round up.

I’ll be posting an ‘official’ 3 month update for Mini M but then moving on to monthly post partum updates instead of weekly.

In place of these weekly posts, I’ll be posting a weekly round up of what we’ve been up to as a family – our news and adventures!

So, on to our 12 week post partum update:

Mini M

Mini has been suffering a little bit with reflux still but we’re persevering with the ranitidine which seems to be working.  Luckily it doesn’t seem to be affecting his mood – more my clothes when he covers me with milk!

He’s such a happy, smiley baby – and loves to giggle which is the cutest thing.  He’s started smiling and giggling at me while I feed him, I’m not sure what’s so funny ha ha!  Miss M used to do the same and it’s so lovely.

He’s very alert and inquisitive like she was too although stares at me all the time which she never did.  Maybe he’s going to be a little bit of a Mummy’s boy?  His sister was, and still is, a Daddy’s girl!

Sleep-wise, we’ve been back to 1-3 wake ups between 7pm and 7am for the past week.  What a naughty baby, his sister was sleeping the full 12 hours by now!  He isn’t going too badly though. I put him to bed for the night at 7pm and he’ll wake for feeds around 4am-ish and sometimes 5.30am-ish but in the past week has also been waking around 1.30am too.  So I’m a bit sleepy but Mr M is still doing a lovely job of taking him at that last wake up so I can have another hours’ sleep before he goes to work – it makes such a big difference to me and means he gets snuggles too before he heads out.

Apart from the lack of sleep, I’m really well.

My post partum weight loss mission is going well and I’m 7.5lbs down so far!  I’ve had some back ache and think it’s because my tummy muscles are so weak so I’m going to start doing crunches.  You know, at some point.

As well as losing weight, I’m losing more hair :(. I know it’s normal but it’s upsetting too to see so much of it coming out after each wash.  The pregnancy hormones must all be out of my system now as my hair has started getting oilier between washes too so no more getting away with only washing it twice a week!  I did love the way pregnancy dried out my hair.

Our Family

We’ve had an absolutely brilliant weekend away at Bluestone Wales in Pembrokeshire and if you’re looking for a relaxing and fun self-catering stay in the UK, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I even had a massage and manicure while we were there!  You can read all about our Bluestone Wales break here and I will be posting more this week about it.

So that’s all for this week – I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend! :)

I think this is the very first time I’ve read your blog so huge congrats on your baby boy, he sounds really adorable with the giggling. Hope the sleep settles again for all of you. Z was a reflux baby too and he would end up throwing up what felt like entire feeds. His eventually got better once he started weaning.

Thanks so much for popping over! Ah yes, it does seem such a lot sometimes – I constantly smell of sour milk! x

Oh gosh I feel for you. 4 of my babies all had severe reflux, you so feel for them. Something that really helped ours is some thing called Carobel. It’s made by Cow and Gate and you can order it in at most pharmacies, it was about £5 a few years back but probably gone up. It’s a thickener that you put in their milk, and it really reduced the 4oz in and 3oz out again for my boys. If it works most GP’s are happy to put it on prescription. x

Oh thank you! It’s so tough isn’t it for them – poor little things! x
