2 Week Post Partum Update
Welcome to my 2 week post partum update.
I’m a day late with this because I went to bed at 6.30pm yesterday! Which sets the theme for this week’s update – sleep deprivation.
Oh yes, those early days of 4-5 hour sleep sessions at night have pretty much gone and in their place – anything from 40 minutes to 2 hours.
On the other hand, Mini M is still well up for a nice long sleeping session in the daytime but it’s always badly timed with a visitor, trip to the supermarket or something else that prevents me trying to sleep when the baby sleeps.
I think I still have PTSD from Miss M’s early
days months so I was expecting the lack of sleep but I can’t say I’m any more of a fan second time around.
In other news, Mini M is doing wonderfully well! He’s feeding every second of the day that he isn’t sleeping or pooping and he’s put on all of his birth weight.
We have the Health Visitor coming today for his first check up and I’m going to ask her if she thinks he has a tongue tie as I can’t tell and he is taking a long time to feed and a couple of other potential signs.
Good news – his jaundice has all gone!
I’m recovering well and feeling more ‘normal’ each day. I’m a bit iron deficient so taking supplements.
I had my first glass of bubbles yesterday – which was v lovely! Although of course it almost sent me to sleep!
I also went on a mini shopping spree yesterday and bought some lovely mini things for Mini M – I’ll post pics ASAP.
We’ve been spending a lot of time with the Grandparents which is lovely :) They’re spoiling the kids a lot and Miss M is loving it.
Miss M is being so adorable with Mini M. Every morning she wakes up and shouts “Where’s Mini M?!” She talks to him all day and sings to him when he’s crying – it’s so sweet! We’ve also heard her a lot saying “Don’t cry, I’m just here” awwww!
We’ve had a lovely second week as a family of 4 and have our fingers crossed for a little more sleep this week :) If anyone has any sleep tips then let me know. I’ve been revisiting my old posts for inspiration although I know newborns tend to dictate their own sleep routines at this stage so we’re trying to just go with the flow.
We are having some success with double swaddling and white noise – hurray! More info in the links below on the techniques we used to help Miss M sleep when she was a baby.
