3 Month Post Partum Update

Where did my newborn go?  It’s my 3 month post partum update!

As always, I have mixed feelings as to whether to time is flying or not!  It feels like Mini M has just always been here and it feels a lot longer than 3 months since we brought him home from the hospital.  Which is a good thing of course.

Mini M has settled into our family really well.  He is such a smiley, happy baby and on the whole is so easy.  I can’t decide whether he’s easier than his sister was in the newborn stage or not.  I suspect I feel like it’s easier as I’m so much more relaxed as a mother the second time around.

I no longer google every teeny, tiny symptom.  Don’t get me wrong, I do google a lot but nothing like I did!  I just don’t worry about the small stuff any more and I focus more on having fun, enjoying cuddles and being very present in the company of my family.

Let’s not pretend it’s easy though – having a 2 year old and a 3 month old is a constant juggling act and has it’s daily challenges!

Mini is so alert and so inquisitive.  He stares and focuses on so much and is always smiling and giggling.  I love how he looks for me a lot, just to check I’m not far away I think.  Maybe he will be the mummy’s boy everyone tells me about :)  I’d love that – well to a certain extent of course.

Miss M is so independent but has always been a lovely Daddy’s girl – perhaps we’ll have a nice balance.  On the subject of his big sister, Miss M is still so adorable with her little baby brother.  She asks for him first thing every morning and races in to wish him a good morning and give him a kiss and cuddle.  In fact, she gives him a lot of kisses and cuddles throughout the day – so cute!

Mini is putting on a lot of weight and is a very happy and healthy size.  He’s breastfeeding very well still but it’s funny to think that in another 3 month’s time, we’ll be starting baby led weaning solids with him too!

His daytime naps are still 3-4 per day and now tend to be at around 8.00am, 10.30am, 2.00pm and 4.00pm.  I have put him to bed at night time at 7.00pm since day 1 and continue to do so.

In the past week he’s gone back to sleeping from 7.00pm for 9-9.5 hours for the first stretch, then after a quick feed has slept again until 6-7.00am.  I hope that continues!

I spend a lot of time talking to Mini and he seems to love having ‘conversations’ with us – he makes some very cute coos in response to our chatter.

I just love being a mum to 2 little ones and I can’t wait to see how he continues to grow up.  His little personality so far is lovely, just like his sister.

This all sounds so wonderfully familiar – hoorah for less stress with second babies. I hope Miss M has been feeling the potty training a bit more after the weekend!

I never thought it possible to feel relaxed with a newborn after the first one! She is both loving and hating it – there’s no consistency! Hope it’s going better for you and Tot :) x

A lovely happy post :) I miss having newborns, but I’ve done it 5 times over so I’ve already been a bit greedy on the newborn front ;)
