4 Month Post Partum Update

4 Month Post Partum Update

Welcome to our 4 month post partum update – 4 months already!

As I’m staring down at Mini M as he’s fast asleep, I’m a little bit amazed at how big he is now.

His newborn days are well and truly behind him and his scrunched up face and skinny legs have been replaced with chubby cheeks and filled out thighs!  He’s just adorable!

Mini M

I haven’t weighed Mini in a long time but it’s clear that he’s growing well.  He is so alert and watches me constantly, following me everywhere with his lovely big, brown eyes.  On the subject of eyes, he definitely has mine!  Hoping they stay brown now.

His hair is still brown too and has started to thicken up a little bit after losing some of the initial newborn hair.

During the day, Mini still breast feeds on demand and that’s still going brilliantly.  He feeds roughly every 3-4 hours and is getting very efficient.  His reflux has gone – hurrah!

Mini loves cuddles and kisses and is happy to be held by anyone.  He’s also turning into a chatterbox like his sister with lots of cooing and babbling!

He loves playing ‘Rockstar’!  In this highly stimulating game I sit him on my lap and make him play imaginary musical instruments.  He particularly excels at guitar, violin and maracas!  Ok, I like playing ‘Rockstar’ but he doesn’t seem to mind :)

He’s getting great at tummy time although no rolling yet – not at all bothered that he isn’t on the move just yet.

By night, Mini is fairly predictable now and after going to bed at 6.30pm he only wakes once either at 1am or 3am and then sleeps until 6.30-7.00am.

Now I’ll regret saying this out loud but last night he slept through from 6.30pm-6.00am!!!  That was his first night at ‘sleeping through the night‘ and I hope isn’t his last :)

He naps in the daytime roughly at 8.30am, 12pm and 3.30pm and sometimes more if we’re driving or I take him for a walk.

On to me…! I can say at 4 months that I am 100% back to normal – hurray!  I still need to work on my strength and fitness and this is part of my weight loss goal.  I’m 7lbs off my pre-pregnancy weight and still want to lose another 2 stone – I’ll get there.

I am really really really suffering from post partum hair loss though.

If you’ve been following my weekly round ups you’ll know that we’re moving back to Australia soon which is very exciting!  I’m looking forward to settling as our complete family of 4 :)

We’ve had a wonderful 4 months with Mini M so far.  He’s a lovely, very placid baby and his sister adores him.  She often runs over to cuddle him and kiss him and I can’t wait until he’s a little bit bigger so that they can play together!

Thanks so much lovely! It’s so brilliant, especially after having supply issues with my first baby :) I’m doing Weight Watchers – it’s going quite well! x

It’s such a relief when the reflux passes isn’t it – within a few days you forget you ever went through it, in spite of how awful it was at the time!x

      That’s so true – it’s such a relief but disappeared overnight! x

Glad I’m not the only one who seems to be losing an entire head’s worth of hair each day! My postpartum hair loss is shocking and Bo is now almost 7 months old. I cannot wait until that stops.

I’m glad I’m not alone – although I hope it stops for us both soon! x
