9 Week Post Partum Update

9 Week Post Partum Update

It’s my 9 Week Post Partum Update and Mini M is now officially 2 month’s old :)

We’ve had a lovely week out and about in the sunshine although the humidity does not bode well for a good night’s sleep for mummies or babies it seems.

9 Week Post Partum Update - www.lovefrommim.com Post Pregnancy 9 Week Old Baby Newborn Baby

Mini M

This week Mini had his 8 week check up at the doctors and his vaccinations – this happened to fall on the hottest day of the year in the UK so far – argh.  It seems all the other newborns in the village were scheduled for their appointment on the same day though as when we arrived at the doctor’s surgery, the waiting room was full of howling babies in nappies – howling BEFORE they’d had their jabs.  Mini, being a bit of a sheep, followed the crowd and had a cry.

The appointment went well; we saw the Doc first who said he was doing brilliantly and apart from the obvious yelps and cries when he had the jabs with the Nurse, he recovered quickly.  It was just so so stuffy in there, no air con, horrible.

One thing I thought was weird was that no-one weighed or measured him – is that normal?  I’m not concerned in any way about his weight or growth though because he’s put so much weight on and clearly looks healthy.  I expect he’ll get weighed and measured next time the Health Visitor comes to see us which I think is in a few week’s time.

Sleep is…ok.  I DID jinx things last week and despite doing a few 9 hour stretches last week, they haven’t made another appearance.  I’m still doing his last feed at 6.30pm and putting him to bed at 7.00pm when Miss M goes.  He’s sleeping 6.5 hours from then, having another feed, then sleeping 2.5-3 hours, then another feed, then up every hour for a feed until I get up at 7.30am.  Mr M is being wonderful and getting him up at 5.30am if he just won’t settle so that I can get a good couple of hours sleep before I get up for the day.  So even if I haven’t slept much at night, I get that good stretch in the morning.  I want the 9 hour sleeps back though!

Last night I had 2 glasses of red wine before I went to bed.  Good Jesus I’m not doing that again, I felt so hungover this morning!

I wasn’t sure what to expect at my check up with the Doctor but as it happened, nothing much occurred!  He asked how I was feeling, I said I was doing well.  He asked if I’d considered what birth control I planned to use, I glared silently at him.  And that concluded my check up.

I’ve noticed my hair has started shedding a bit when I brush it so I’ve started taking Nourkrin tablets for Post Pregnancy hair loss.  I loved my thick pregnancy hair, I don’t want to see it thin out again :(

I joined Weight Watchers!  I actually joined 2 weeks ago but I was in London on ‘weight in’ day this week so couldn’t be officially weighed.  I had a really good first week though so I really hope I’ve done well when I get weighed this week.

We were in London for a trip to the Baby Spa – YES, a BABY SPA!

Our Family

We’ve had a lovely weekend and had a WONDERFUL surprise visit from one of my besties and her beautiful family as she’s over in the UK from France on holiday.  It was so nice to see them all and compare how the kids had grown.

They also brought their new dog with them and now Miss M wants one – nooooooooo ha ha – thanks a lot, Claire!

We’re really hoping to pop over to France in the next couple of months and see them, we went last year and it was so much fun.  Although apparently it’s even hotter over there right now so we’ll wait for the weather to cool down a bit.  I don’t know whether this will last but since getting pregnant with Miss M, I can’t tolerate the heat any more.

Does anyone else have that?  Or is it an………age thing??

Do let me know if you’re also doing Weight Watchers so we can support each other!

The 8 wk check I thought was a waste of time and sounds like yours was similar. I’m also on weight watchers and just into my 9th week. Weigh in day on the blog is usually a Wednesday afternoon if you want to read my ww challenges. Good luck on your journey!

I’m glad it wasn’t just mine that was a bit rubbish! Thanks so much and I’ll check out your posts too! :)

Our six week check sounds very much like yours – no weighing or measuring and very few questions for me. Last time I’m sure my doctor spent more time with us. Tin Box Baby is now having a feed at 6.30pm and then being put down by 7pm. Some times she grumbles for an hour but then she sleeps until I feed her again at 10.30pm. She’ll then sleep until 3am/4am when we’ll feed again. If we’re lucky that’s it until 7am but the Tot is quite often up at 6am :( Good luck with Slimming World x

      Thanks so much, lady! :)

Sounds like you’re both doing fab! Yeah I remember the birth control question from the doctor as well – I think my answer was “I’ve just had a baby, I hardly get any sleep, when on earth do I have time for sex?! Trust me, he ain’t coming anywhere near me again!”

Baby spa sounds interesting! Will have a read of that post now.

Ha ha I thought the same – as if we’re thinking about procreating!! :)

So glad everything’s going so well. (I know you’d love more sleep, but I didn’t get a 6 hour stretch until my twins were 14 months, so I’m not very sympathetic.) I definitely found that my internal thermostat reset after pregnancy, although it shook itself out after I was done breastfeeding.

    Thanks for linking with #TwinklyTuesday.

Ha you’re right – twins are double trouble but so lovely :)

Ah this is such a nice round up to do. I’m glad everything went well with his jabs. Usually they weigh them, normally can’t help themselves! I’m sure the HV will jump on it any how haha. So good to get that stretvh in the morning. Thy normally have a growth spurt around now so i’m surprised he’s not sleeping that good this week! x #twinklytuesday

I completely forgot about the 9 week growth spurt – ooh I hope that’s the answer, thanks! :)

Sounds like you are both doing well, it can be quite tough in those early months. Thanks for linking up
