My Birthday Lunch at Amanda’s on the Edge
Well it was my birthday at the weekend and despite the drama of last week, I had a brilliant time! I had my birthday lunch at Amanda’s on the Edge.
We headed to one of my favourite places in NSW, the Hunter Valley. Home to some of the loveliest wineries in Australia, why wouldn’t we go there?!
We we joined by a group of my lovely friends and stayed at Cypress Lakes Resort in Pokolbin. I’ve stayed there before and it’s such a lovely place, great for kids and very close to everything. We rented a 2 bedroom villa privately through Stayz and stayed there with our good friends who also have 2 kids almost the same age as ours – perfect! Miss M was very happy to have a little buddy for the weekend and followed Miss S around like a sheep :)
For my birthday lunch, I booked us a big table at Amanda’s on the Edge. We’ve been once before and I knew it would be fabulous and we were not disappointed!
It was so nice to arrive and have friends waiting for us and Amanda greeted us and took us to our table. Despite it taking a little bit of time for us to get sorted with waiting for the group to arrive and deciding what we wanted to order, Amanda and her team were so patient and attentive.
Miss M was happy as anything when she was given colouring pencils and a children’s menu to colour in and this kept her busy while we ordered.
I started with Chicken Liver Pâté and Mr M had Goats Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Flowers and Miss M shared chicken nuggets and vegetables with Miss S – a huge portion for kids so perfect for a couple of 2 year olds to share.
The Pâté so delicious, accompanied with caramelised onions, warm toast and a pinenut salad. It was so delicious and having not been able to eat during my pregnancy, I really enjoyed it.
For our main meal I ordered Beef Eye Fillet and Mr M had Malaysian Chicken Curry. My Beef was medium and cooked perfectly, served with a gruyére cheese, thyme & potato galette, Paris butter and roasted eshallot. Honestly my mouth is watering just typing this. It was the best beef I’ve eaten in some time.
The best thing about going to lunch with a big group is that there’s always someone to hold the baby so we actually managed to eat a full meal for once! Thank you to our friends for ‘passing the Mini M parcel’ and letting us enjoy our food.
That changed rapidly at dessert time when I was presented with a beautiful chocolate mousse, personalised with a Happy Birthday message! That was all Miss needed to bounce back over and pile on my lap so we should ‘share’. I did manage to have some, to her disappointment! It was such a lovely surprise. Ooh it was good – as you can see!
Here are the waffles Mr M had!
The great thing about Amanda’s is that it’s such a family friendly place without being toooo family focussed. There was a lovely mix of couples, families and friends dining and a great atmosphere.
There is a big garden outside for the kids to have a run around or to dine outside with beautiful views.
Amanda and her team treated us so well, service was very quick and they were very attentive – even in refilling my wine – I couldn’t have asked for more :)
Thank you so much to everyone at Amanda’s on the Edge – we will definitely be back!
