Baby Bath Time Fun!
When Miss M was a newborn, it would be fair to say she hated bath time. In return, we hated bath time too! Baby bath time fun? I think not. At all. This post contains affiliate links.
I think the combination of our paranoia about not doing it right and us not quite setting the scene for a peaceful and fun splash in the bath rubbed off on her and it ended up becoming stressful for us all.
As new parents, we were scared of obvious – dropping her in the bath – which of course never happened!
We decided that the best way to tackle it was to make it a joint effort, one of us in charge of holding and one bathing. We laid out the essentials each time – a water-filled baby bath to the correct temperature, a towel at the ready for drying afterwards and some baby bath – lavender has always been my favourite as it does help promote a good night’s sleep.
We started bathing Miss M from day 1 every few days with just water and increased the frequency as she got older. We always did bath time just before bed too to keep a consistent routine. She’s definitely a routine-loving baby!
As she’s gotten older, we bathe her daily and she outgrew her baby bath a long time ago so uses the main bath.
We’ve been using these lovely Clippasafe Mini Bath Mats in the bath to stop her slipping when she sits down or stands up. They’re cute and brightly coloured and she loves them! You get 6 mats in the pack and they’re so easy to pop in and off the bottom of the bath.
Miss M (like her Mummy) HATES getting water in her eyes so we’ve also been using this Clippasafe Shampoo Shield – it fits over her head so easily and is stretchy to fit all children’s heads. It means we can wash her hair quickly with shampoo and none of the water goes into her eyes.
Miss M loves to run her fingers through her hair – during dinner time – so we wash her hair at every bath but like to use something gentle so we’ve been using the lovely Earth Friendly Baby range.
The Earth Friendly Baby Calming Lavender Shampoo and Body Wash is just lovely – so gentle and mild and really soothing after a hard day’s playing. I must admit I’ve been sharing this with her and using it myself! The lavender range also includes Bubble Bath and Body Lotion as well as chamomile and mandarin products.
Bath time is much more fun now! We still have our days when she needs a little coaxing to get in but 99% of the time the only issue we have now is trying to get her out of the bath again!
We try to make the whole bath time experience as relaxing and fun for her as possible – lots of toys and play time so it isn’t just about getting her cleaned up and a big fluffy towel awaiting her when she gets out. And Iggle Piggle – that little blue fella is quite appealing apparently!
