Fisher-Price Newborn to Toddler Gym Review

Fisher-Price Newborn to Toddler Gym Review

As Mini M is now 4 months old, he’s getting increasingly more independent and more interested in what is happening around him.

He seems to love bright colours and anything with patterns and grasps on to things we put in front of him.

A lot of Miss M’s toys are a bit too advanced for him and he didn’t have many of his own so we were so happy when we were sent the Fisher-Price Newborn to Toddler Gym!

The Fisher Price Newborn to Toddler Gym is actually suitable for babies from birth upwards and it has three stages of play to keep newborns, bigger babies and toddlers occupied and entertained.

Miss M had a Fisher Price Rainforest Melodies and Lights Deluxe Play Gym when she was Mini’s age and they are so similar in a lot of ways although this new baby gym should last him even longer as he grows up.

There are over 12 activities, lights, sounds and music and cute animals toys and pictures.

As a small baby, we lie Mini on his back to look up and grasp at the dangling toys.  We also lie him on his tummy on the mat so that he can look up at us and the toys to help strengthen his head and neck.

Miss M loves to get involved too (whether Mini likes it or not!) and has been having fun playing with the balls and ‘encouraging’ Mini to grab the toys above his head.

As your baby grows up, this mat works really well to adapt to their new age and abilities so that you don’t have to upgrade and buy another toy.

As well as keeping babies entertained, it also helps to encourage their fine and gross motor skills, their balance and co-ordination.

Miss M’s play gym was a lifesaver for me, as well as a wonderful toy for her, and this lovely new one from Fisher Price is already worth it’s weight in gold for Mini M too.  There are times when you’re going to need to put your baby down for a little bit and if yours are anything like mine as newborns, if they were not being carried they were crying.  Popping them on the play gym means they’re occupied for a little while so you can at least pop to the loo or make yourself a quick drink!

Mini M LOVES his new play gym and it’s so lovely to see how quickly he’s developing by grasping the toys he’s aiming for.  He has a lovely time cooing and giggling and it will be even more fun for him when he gets a bit bigger and can test out it’s other fun features.

The mat is machine washable and the toys are wipe clean and I’m always thrilled to have toys that are easy to clean.

I’m never a huge fan of toys with batteries – this takes 3 x AAA ones – because they’re sometimes expensive but they seem to be lasting quite well so far.  I find the music a little bit repetitive but I must remember it’s there to entertain Mini, not me :)

It was so easy to put together, literally just clipping the frame in two places.

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced play gym for your newborn that will last as they grow, we can definitely recommend this one.

It’s so lovely! He still isn’t a fan of ‘tummy time’ but the bright colours seem to distract him so he doesn’t mind :) x
