May Favourites 2016

I managed to skip April altogether so here are my April and May Favourites – some of the things I’ve loved in those months and thought I’d share with you.
First are a few beauty and skincare items:
1. BioEffect EGF Serum
I’ll start by saying, this stuff is pricy. I saw Lindy at Bubzbeauty raving about it recently though and it just totally convinced me it was worth the price tag.
It’s an anti-aging serum that promises to restore your skin’s youthful radiance. It’s a long time since I can remember looking youthfully radiant! My skin is so dull and dry from the effects of chemo though and I wanted to try something to help it look brighter and smoother.
I’ve been using this every night before bed for about a month now and I can already see and feel it working! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t look 21 yet and I still have fine lines under my eyes but they are reduced and my skin feels so much smoother all over.
I’m going to keep using it and hope I look 21 soon :) You can see from the bottle that even after using for a month, a tiny drop goes a loooong way so even though it’s expensive, it will last a long time.
You can purchase it here.
2. Rimmel Kate Sculpting Palette
I love this 3-in-one palette and particularly the highlighter. I’ve been using it on the top of my cheek bones although as it doesn’t contain too much shimmer, you could use it in other areas to highlight your face.
The bronzer and blush are lovely shades but not quite dark enough for the colour of my skin however they are nice ‘daytime’ shades to give subtle definition. If I buy this again, I’d get a darker and warmer shade.
3. Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara
Another lovely Rimmel product I loved in April was this mascara that, as well as giving volume, also over time tints your lashes.
My eyelashes started falling out months ago, thanks to chemo, so when I do wear mascara, it has to be one that gives volume to make the most of the ones that are clinging on.
During May, most of them have unfortunately abandoned ship but I’ll be keeping this mascara for when they regrow as I loved the effect it had.
4. thankyou Hand Cream
This lovely hand cream was in my BellaBox for May and I LOVE it. It has a lovely fragrance with geranium and rosewood and it sinks into my skin immediately.
Despite leaving no residue at all, my hands feel immediately so much softer and over the past few weeks it’s having a lovely effect. I’ve nearly finished this tube and I’ll definitely be buying another.
The best thing though is that for every purchase of a thankyou product, 100% of the profits help get hygiene and sanitation services to people in need.
5. Confessions of a Crummy Mummy
I love love love Natalie’s posts at Confessions of a Crummy Mummy! Natalie is a married mother of 2, freelance journalist and blogger and I had the pleasure of meeting her last year when we were both brand ambassadors for Huggies Wipes.
Some of my recent favourite posts of hers:
- Is it possible to politely refer to a foo-foo?
- Things you can’t do now your baby is a toddler
- 5 Baby items I use for me (an awesome guest post Nat contributed to my #MyFiveThings series)
If you don’t already, check her out now!
Finally a little app recommendation if you love puzzle games. I’ve been playing this for ages now on and off but I’ve rekindled my love for it recently – I think because I’ve spent so much time waiting around in doctor’s surgeries and hospitals and I needed something to pass the time!
It’s such a simple little game, the goal being to keep adding the numbers up until you get to 2048. Or you can be a
saddo genius like me and get to 8192!
You can download it from the App Store here.
What were your May favourites?
Disclosure: I was sent the Rimmel makeup in exchange for my honest review.
