Mim Loves Blogs – Mummy in Training & Awesome Austerity

Happy Monday to you all and happy 36 weeks pregnant to me.  ARGH.  I had my last baby at 36 weeks so I’m feeling just a little anxious.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly excited and I cannot wait to meet the new little person joining our family but I still feel like there’s so much to do and so much ‘unknown-ness’ about the whole thing.

I think first time around I was in a bit of a blissful (naive) baby bubble and everything was new and exciting.  Second time around, I seem to have so many more questions and thoughts about how things are going to go.  Like when will the baby arrive?  How will the baby arrive?  Will we cope with having 2 kids?  Will I ever sleep again?

Which brings me on to the blog post I loved reading this week – and this is where the 2 for 1 comes in to it!

The post was a guest post on the lovely Mummy in Training‘s blog.  Let me start by telling you about Rachel who runs the blog.  She writes such varied posts on parenting and also about her experience of dealing with post-natal anxiety.  I have found blogging to be such great therapy and I think Rachel has too – I really recommend that you check her blog out!

My favourite post of last week was a guest post that Rachel had on her blog called Why Having a Second Baby is Easier.  As you can imagine, it caught my eye IMMEDIATELY!

The post was written by Morna at Awesome Austerity – a blog I hadn’t gotten to yet.  This is one of the reasons I love reading guest posts as you get to find out about so many more wonderful blogs!

Morna is a mother of 2 (did you already guess that?) and in this post she shares her reasons why having 1 child might be terrifying but having 2 is a breeze!  Ok, maybe not a breeze – but take a look at her reasons why it really isn’t as hard as you might think when you already have 1.

Now Morna, I’ve taken every word you said literally and it’s filled me with confidence, so don’t let me down :)

You can follow Morna on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Pinterest.

So there you have it – two wonderful blog recommendations this week – check them out and give them some #bloglove too!

How did you prepare for having a second child?  Do you have any advice for me?

My second has just turned one. A year in I can honestly say he has just slotted into place like he was always meant to be. There are times when you feel you have to split yourself in two, and it takes a little while to adjust to getting the balance of family life right again. But for every bad day there are so many more good. Just seeing the love my two boys have for each other makes me tear up. Life is busy and life is noisy. But it’s wonderful. Good luck with the new arrival. Sending you lots of positive pushing thoughts! x
P.S In my experience the second ones just shoot right out ;)

Our first was a breeze. Our second was sooooo difficult. Not because we had two, just because he was not a content baby. The best advice I can give you is not to expect your second to be anything like the first. Go into it with no expectations and an open mind. We thought for sure our second would be just like our first. We were dead wrong.

Ahh I wonder what the second will be like for us! Thanks for your advice, Miss M was HARD WORK for the first 3 months so maybe I’ll get a more contented one?! :) :)
