The First Hippo on the Moon by David Walliams
Just in time for Christmas, The First Hippo on the Moon, the wonderful new picture book written by comedian and best selling author children’s author, David Walliams! This post contains affiliate links.
‘The First Hippo on the Moon’ is about two big hippos and one enormous dream in a space race to the moon and is illustrated by Tony Ross.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to review this book!
This large book has the most imaginative and beautifully illustrated, colourful pictures throughout and my 20 month old toddler adored it at first sight.
The story centres on two hippos who share a dream to reach the moon and be the first hippo there and of course, is based on a true story :) As well as the hippos, many other animals make appearances throughout, to Miss M’s delight and she loves pointing out the different animals – elephant, monkey, bird etc.
Although she’s too young to read, the large letters telling the story make this a great read for little ones and alongside the bright and bold illustrations, we found the story kept us engaged from start to finish.
The characters are so much fun and David’s unique sense of humour really shines through, making it as entertaining for parent’s to read as it is for the kids.
Do the hippos make it? Will one get there first?? I will not ruin the ending for you!
