This week, I’m turning the tables on the hilarious Lucy, aka Silly Mummy, at R is for Hoppit!
Tell us about your Series – The Ten Funniest Things the Toddler Said Last Week
I blog as Silly Mummy at R is for Hoppit. I am a SAHM to two little girls. The Toddler is nearly three. The Baby is now nineteen months, so really no longer a Baby. They need to be renamed (on the blog, not in real life). The blog is mostly funny posts about things the girls have said and done, and general observations about toddlers and parenting.
I have been running a series of the “Ten Funniest Things The Toddler said last week” since my blog was a couple of months old. It really is exactly what it says: a series of ten little anecdotes of things The Toddler has said that amused me over the previous week. Recently, it has included cameo appearances from The Baby. I love that it serves as a little record of the children’s development and funny moments.
So now it’s my turn!
Instead of Silly Mummy, I’ll of course be Silly Mimmy. Here are the Ten Funniest Things Miss M Said Last Week!
1. Stickers, not for eating
Miss M, is examining her new collection of Cake themed stickers.
Miss M: ‘Oooh, there’s a cupcake one! (licks sticker) Nom nom nom!’
Silly Mimmy: ‘Very nice, can I eat one?’
Miss M: ‘No Mummy, it’s only a sticker.’
Oh, of course it is. Silly, silly Mimmy.
2. Butter, always needed
Miss M: ‘Please can I have some toast?’
Silly Mimmy: ‘Would you like butter on it?’
Miss M (agitated): ‘We ALWAYS need butter!’
My apologies, how dare I even ask!
3. Did she mention she liked butter?
On another toast-making occasion later that week.
Miss M: ‘What are you doing Mummy?’
Silly Mimmy: ‘I’m making myself some toast, would you like some too?’
Miss M: ‘Yes please. PUT BUTTER ON IT!!’
Silly Mimmy: ‘Don’t worry, I will!’
Miss M: ‘I’m just trying to help you Mummy.’
Such drama about toast!
4. Missing: toddler’s nose
Miss M: ‘Where’s my nose, Daddy? Where’s my nose? I CAN’T SEE IT!!’
Daddy laughs at her cross-eyed panic for a few seconds more before finally showing her that her nose is still firmly on her face, just under her eyes. Where it always is.
5. Hey, Good Looking!
Miss M saunters in to the kitchen where Silly Mimmy is making dinner.
Miss M: ‘Hey Mummy, what you got cooking?’
Silly Mimmy (launching into the 1950’s song): ‘How’s about cooking something up with me?!’
Miss M: ‘STOP SINGING MUMMY, NOOOOO!’
Well you started it!
6. More Milk
Miss M has downed her second glass of milk and is demanding more. Daddy thinks two might already be enough.
Miss M: ‘But milk is good for me Daddy, it makes me healthy.’
Well…sort of…ok, who can (be bothered to) argue with that.
7. Compliments, fleeting
Silly Mimmy is putting on her make up in the bathroom.
Miss M: ‘Mummy, you are so pretty!’
Silly Mimmy (holding back the tears): ‘Oh thank you!’
Miss M: ‘I got a bogey.’
Well that beautiful moment went downhill quickly.
8. On learning to share
Miss M has taken Mini’s pull along turtle away from him for the tenth time that morning.
Silly Mimmy: ‘If you’re going to play with Mini’s toys, can you give him something else to play with?’
Miss M: ‘No, he’s sharing all of them with me.’
Silly Mimmy: ‘Can you share one of your toys with him then?’
Miss M: ‘NO, they are MINE!’
Learning to share, not an easy concept to grasp.
9. On having an ‘out of body’ experience
During a car journey, the family go through a dark tunnel.
Miss M: ‘Noooooooooooo arrrggghhhh, I can’t see my eyes!’
Well, I’d be very worried if you could.
10. On meeting her new baby brother (yes, this was 10 months ago but had to include!)
Silly Mimmy and Daddy walk through the front door, bringing Miss M’s new baby brother home.
Miss M: *runs to the door excitedly* ‘I got a babby bubba!’
Silly Mimmy: *tearing up with emotion* ‘You do! What to you think of him?’
Miss M: *stares confusingly at Mini’s scrunched up little newborn face* ‘I got a…pink babby!
Silly Mimmy tries with all her might not to laugh her uterus out.
Thank you so much to Lucy at R is for Hoppit for allowing me flip her awesome weekly feature and record my own toddlers craziness for a week!
