Losing weight with Lite n’ Easy!
If you read my last post you’ll have heard me complaining about the amount of weight I’ve put on through my chemo treatment. Although if I’m honest, I might be carrying one or 100 kilos of baby weight still too! When the opportunity came up to try losing weight with Lite n’ Easy, I jumped at the chance.
First, let’s rewind 6 months. As much as I was dreading chemo, there was a big part of me secretly looking forward to having a diet forced upon me, given I have zero self-control when it comes to food. And wine.
There had to be a benefit of the chemo side effects though, hadn’t there? I imagined myself gaunt and waif-like, that was the deal with chemo, wasn’t it?
Um, no. Apparently not for all cancers and not for all patients either. I did actually lose a few kilos in the beginning because with the mouth ulcers and nausea, I couldn’t bear to eat much. Then as I learned to manage those side effects better, the kilos came back on. And they brought friends. Fat friends.
I don’t imagine the steroids and edema will have helped my weight gain out any but I will hold my hands up and say I made bad choices in the past 6 months when it came to food. I’m not beating myself up about it, it was about survival really. Chemo sucks. Chocolate helps. And pizza.
Now it’s time to do something about it though so I was delighted to have the opportunity to review and try losing weight with Lite n’ Easy for the next 2 weeks. I needed a kick start for my longer term goal, which is to be healthier, and this is certainly it.
If you don’t know, Lite n’ Easy offer great tasting, healthy meals and you can choose a plan to totally suit you and help you to lose weight. The plan is brilliant for people who are time poor (hello parents) or too busy to shop or cook for themselves every day.
You can choose to order 5 or 7 day full meal plans – this is where you’re sent Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks for each full day.
Otherwise you could choose combinations of the above such as Breakfast and Lunches only. Or if you have those meals sorted, you can choose only Dinners. There are a few other options too and you can find out more about what’s available in your state here.
I decided to go ‘all in’ so I opted for the 7 day, all meals option. You can then choose what a Calorie plan (1200, 1500 or 1800) and I went for 1500. I want to lose weight, but not starve :)
I have done this plan before so I knew what to expect. What I absolutely love about Lite n’ Easy is that it’s real food – no shakes, no mysterious powder concoctions and no starving myself. Others are free to do what works for them but for me, those things would not work. Real, whole foods are the way forward for me and my family. With the odd low-cal snack thrown in to keep things ‘real’. Real and ‘real’. Yes.
On Thursday this week, my esky full of Lite n’ Easy goodies arrived! If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen me posting a few of my meals this week. If you don’t follow me, you should join the 2000+ others who do!
So for the next 2 weeks, I’m going to be losing weight with Lite n’ Easy. I’ve now finished chemo so I have no food restrictions and my health professionals are happy for me to do this. In fact, they think it’s a great idea!
I’ve weighed myself and taken body measurements and I’ll be checking in on Thursday next week to let you know how Week 1 has gone!
I’m going to do my best to not look at the scales before Thursday and of course, not to cheat. Because, what is the point of that!
I’m determined to kick start healthier living and I hope you’ll encourage me along the way. I might be battling cancer now but I intend to live a long and healthy life!
