A Great App for Practicing Yoga during Pregnancy
A Great App for Practicing Yoga during Pregnancy is in collaboration with Gotta Joga Prenatal.
When I was pregnant with my first baby I started with so much anxiety about childbirth. Would labour be painful? Would my body know what to do? I decided that two things would help me to prepare better for the birth: yoga during pregnancy and learning how to hypnobirth.
I started having weekly acupuncture sessions which also helped to calm my mind and get myself and my body ready for the big birth day.
I looked online and found prenatal yoga and pilates classes in a studio only 5 minutes from my workplace. The classes were at lunchtime and it was lovely to pop along 3 times a week for the classes. During them, the instructor guided us through safe movements to prepare our bodies to manage our pregnancies, bond further with our babies and get ready for birth.
I found the sessions so calming and left each one feeling so positive, confident in the ability of my body and excited to meet my baby!
When I was pregnant with my second baby, I had moved house and after researching, I found that unfortunately there were no classes anywhere locally for me to attend. I had to try and remember what I had learned 2 years before – not easy!
I wish that the Gotta Joga Prenatal app had been available then!
Maija Airas-Ceri, the founder of Gotta Apps, started to do yoga for birth preparation when she was pregnant with her 2nd son. She loved the experience and wanted to offer a good yoga experience for other mothers-to-be so she teamed up with Vanessa de Haas, an American yoga teacher, and created Gotta Joga Prenatal.
Gotta Joga Prenatal is built on Gotta Joga, their yoga app which was featured as one of the Best New Apps in the App Store, in May 2015, in more than 40 countries.
The app is launching on June 2nd – here’s a sneak peek!:
You will be able to download it then in the app store and watch on your iPhone or iPad.
I wish I’d had this app during my pregnancies. Having the classes on you phone means you can literally practice yoga during pregnancy anywhere – at home, at work, on holiday – wherever you are!
Doing yoga during pregnancy helped me to prepare both my body and mind for childbirth. It complemented my hypnobirthing breathing practices perfectly and I felt so in tune and confident in my body’s ability.
Rather than feel anxiety about childbirth, I quickly became excited for it and so empowered.
If you are looking to prepare yourself both physically and mentally for childbirth, why not give yoga a try! Do check with your doctor or midwife that it is suitable for you first of course.
